APPOINTMENT AS DIRECTOR OF NURSING SERVICES (RAF) & MATRON-in-CHIEF PMRAFNS 1. As Gp Capt Gross has previously notified, the New Year has seen the change of incumbent of the DNS(RAF) and Matron-in-Chief of the PMRAFNS appointment. Following a week's handover I took up the appointment this morning and am greatly honoured to serve the PMRAFNS in this way. 2. I am aware of the many challenges before myself and, more importantly, the complex issues that many of you face. You can be assured that I will be unstinting in my efforts to support you in the care that you provide, the service development that you will be engaged in and the career aspirations that you have. At the same time I will be seeking out opportunities for the continual development of our Service, thereby ensuring we remain at the forefront of the profession. Additionally, I will ensure the unique contribution that the PMRAFNS makes to defence is fully recognised in this year's Strategic Defence Review. 3. Although we, and the remainder of the Services, face what seems to be perpetual change you continue to provide exceptional patient care whilst developing practice. I believe that the PMRAFNS and our civilian nursing colleagues working in a collaborative way can continue to deliver care that is second to none. I am privileged to be your Director and contribute to the invaluable work of our Service. Best wishes
