PMRAFNS ASSOCIATION - ROYAL COCKTAIL PARTY 2005

The Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service Association hosted Her Royal Highness Princess Alexandra at a Cocktail Party held at the RAF Club on the 21^st September 2005.

HRH Princess Alexandra was met at the entrance of the RAF Club by the Association President Group Captain W B Williams, the Association Chairman Wing Commander (Retd) Scofield and the RAF Club General Manager Mr P Owen. Following a photograph opportunity, Association members were presented to HRH Princess Alexandra. HRH insisted on meeting everybody and spoke to each and every person, several of whom she had met before.

The Salon Orchestra of the RAF played throughout the evening and managed to include an excellent ‘string’ version of the PMs March. Flight Officer (Retd) Mrs J Bunting, who had travelled from Canada to attend, presented a posy to HRH Princess Alexandra.

The Royal Cocktail Party concluded and the Association President and Chairman accompanied HRH Princess Alexandra to sign the visitors’ book before she departed.

HRH Princess Alexandra thoroughly enjoyed the evening and stayed much longer than originally planned. The evening was an enormous success and was enjoyed by those that attended. It was especially pleasing that Association members of all ranks both serving and retired attended to meet our Royal Patron HRH Princess Alexandra.

The Royal Cocktail Party was organised by the PMRAFNS Association Committee’s newly appointed ‘Special Projects Officer’.
