Background In
2003, The Princess Mary’s Royal Air Force Nursing Service Trust purchased a
holiday lodge in North Devon. Situated
within the ‘Hartland’s Forest Golf and Leisure Parc’, Skywards Lodge was
initially for the sole use of serving and retired members of the PMRAFNS and
their guests. However, the Trustees have now decided to widen eligibility to
increase the use of this excellent facility.
We are now in a position to start letting the Lodge again for the 2009
season, commencing on 2 May 2009. For
the time being, bookings will only be accepted for up to 6 months in advance of
the date of your holiday. For
the 2009 season, eligibility to rent the lodge has been extended to include serving
members of all Branches and Trades of the RAF Medical Services, in addition to
the current arrangements for serving and retired
members of the PMRAFNS.
About
the Lodge Skywards
Lodge is a high class, Scandinavian lodge situated within the Hartland Forest
Golf and Leisure Parc, 3 miles inland from the rugged North Devon coastline with
its numerous coves, beaches and coastal footpaths.
Situated near the picturesque town of Clovelly, it is midway between the
historic port of Bideford and the surfing resort of Bude just 1.5 miles off the
A39. The local villages of Woolsery,
Hartland and Bradworthy afford a variety of pubs and shops. The
Lodge is well designed and comfortably furnished to support up to 6 guests.
There are 2 twin bedded rooms and a double room. There is a family
bathroom and additional en suite shower room with WC.
All bed linen and towels will be provided (with the exception of beach
towels). The kitchen is fully
equipped for a self catering holiday (including a washing machine, dishwasher
and freezer). The lounge has a TV
and Hi Fi system. It
should be noted that dogs and other pets are not permitted and that the lodge is
strictly non smoking.
About
Hartlands Forest Golf and Leisure Parc Facilities
on site are currently awaiting major refurbishment and therefore the swimming
pool, spa, clubhouse restaurant and bar will be unavailable until April 2010 at
the earliest. The 18 hole golf
course will remain open and green fees are currently £15. A
stay in the lodge for the 2009 season should therefore be viewed as a fully self
catered holiday which provides a base to explore the surrounding countryside,
coastline and many places of interest.
